What is freedom in Christ? What does that look like on a practical level?
Romans 8:2 NLT
And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.
1 Peter 2:16 NLT
For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil.
Galatians 5:13 NLT
For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.
John 8:32 NLT
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
1 Corinthians 10:23-24 NLT
You say, “I am allowed to do anything”-but not everything is good for you. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”-but not everything is beneficial. [24] Don’t be concerned for your own good but for the good of others.
Freedom in Christ empowers us to break free from the shackles of sin and embrace the freedom to pursue our purpose. However, this newfound freedom also comes with the weight of responsibility. It demands that we use it to love and serve others, following the teachings of Jesus, the very one who bestowed upon us this freedom in the first place.
Summing it up…
- Be like Him and not like the world
- Live and love differently
- Love others as you love yourself
- Seek the good of others before yourself
- Hold tightly to the teachings of Jesus and obey His every command
